Safety and Security

All terms and rules have been put in place by our Staff Housing Committee for everyone's safety and protection. We ask all residents to keep your room locked at all times and do not leave your valuables unattended as neither the Staff Housing Coordinator or Sun Peaks Resort LLP are responsible for missing items.

In case of emergency we ask that you call 9-1-1 right away. For all other concerns or incidents within staff housing, please dial 1-877-704-2177 to reach our 24/7 call centre who will redirect your call to the relevant party. Please refer to our staff housing handbook for more information.

Your Keys / Unit Access​

Upon move-in, you will be provided with one set of keys or a unique door code (depending upon which building you are allocated), that will give you access to your building and your unit. Should you misplace or forget your key or door code, we recommend you ask your roommate to let you in. If that is not possible, you can call our Call Centre 1-877-704-2177 to request assistance from a member of our team to open you door during regular office hours.

 
Our ability to handle room lock out requests after 6:30 pm and before 8am will be dependent on staff availability and cannot be guaranteed. Please also note that requests during these hours will incur a charge as will the provision of replacement keys. Under no circumstances should residents have duplicate keys cut. Please refer to the Staff Housing Handbook and License Agreement for more details on these charges related to keys, codes and lock outs.

Rent Owing​

All rent will be deducted via payroll every 2 weeks and will be calculated from the date you complete your check in appointment.​

If we are unable to deduct your rent owing from your payroll (due to insufficient funds) we will contact you directly to arrange another payment method.

Guests and Visitors​

Residents are welcome to invite up to one visitor at a time, up to two consecutive nights maximum per month, with the exception of occasional blackout periods. Any guest requests must be approved by all other occupants of the unit prior to being arranged with Staff Housing. Residents must register and sign in each visitor with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice. If your guest is arriving with a vehicle, please arrange a visitor parking pass.

Room Move Requests

Room move requests are subject to availability and may not be possible during our peak season when accommodation is full.  You are welcome to request a room move by contacting our Staff Housing team. All requests are carefully reviewed by the Staff Housing Committee, taking into consideration the reason for the move as well as the availability of an alternate unit. Responses to requests can take up to a week and even if approved, you may be added to a wait list for a suitable bed to become available.  Please note that if approved the move is subject to a $100 administration fee. While we will consider requests for room moves, please note that our ability to meet these requests will be limited.

Parking

We have limited parking available on our Staff Housing property, assigned on a first come, first served basis. If you plan on bringing your own vehicle, there is a seasonal fee of $100.00 which will be charged upon arrival. This fee is the same regardless of arrival date. For residents of The Burfield, there is a small underground car park (limited availability). The parking fee for this is $20 bi-weekly (per pay period). If you extend your stay with us through to the next season, the seasonal fee will be deducted from your payroll for the next season.

All vehicles must display a valid parking pass and must have current insurance and license plates. Please indicate on your intake form if you require a parking pass, so we can have it ready for your arrival. 
 
If you are thinking about purchasing a vehicle during your stay in staff housing, please email our Staff Housing Coordinator ahead of time to check parking availability, and to arrange a parking pass.

Garbage and Recycling

We care about or environment and encourage all of our staff to recycle when they can. Please take the time to educate yourself on what is considered "waste" and what items can be recycled. There is a communal Garbage and recycling disposal containers are available to all staff housing residents on the staff housing property.   Please check with the Staff Housing team who will share the actual location of these bins with you during move-in.

Room Inspections​

 

Our Staff Housing team conducts bi-weekly visual room inspections to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents. You will receive a notification via email with the date of the inspection beforehand. It is the responsibility of residents to clean their personal areas, and we urge all residents to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization as a courtesy to their room mates. 
If illegal drugs are found within any unit, it is grounds for immediate eviction from Staff Housing and your department manager will be notified.

End of Employment / Evictions

End of Employment / Evictions

As an employee of Sun Peaks Resort LLP (SPRLLP) or hte Sun Peaks Grand Hotel (SPGLLP) you are entitled to live in our Staff Housing. Once your contract with either company ends, you are required to vacate staff housing within 72 hours of your final shift worked.

If your employment is terminated by SPRLLP or SPGLLP you are required to vacate Staff Housing within the time determined by the Staff Housing Committee, and an eviction notice will be delivered to you.
​
If you have received 3 warnings/fines or you have deliberately violated any of our Staff Housing policies or rules, you risk eviction from our staff housing, in which an eviction letter will be sent to you. Your department manager will be notified and your employment with SRPLLP or SPGLLP may be terminated.
